Cookies and localStorage are different
A cookie is a small value a browser can send with requests to a website. localStorage is a browser-managed store that page scripts can read on the same origin; its contents are not automatically attached to every request. Both can persist on a device, so both should be explained rather than treating only cookies as relevant.
The supplied site code does not set cookies or install analytics, advertising tags or cross-site tracking scripts. It can save the storage preference described below. Neither choice enables optional tracking, because no optional tracking feature is installed in this version.
Storage inventory
| Item | Type and purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| ottercedarwhrl-storage-choice | First-party localStorage; stores “accept” or “essential” only after your choice | Until you clear it, browser settings remove it, or the site replaces it |
| Contact draft | Temporary page memory; supports the live text preview | Not saved by the site; discarded when the page closes or reloads |
Clearing or blocking storage
Use “Clear Preference” above to remove this site's preference key. You can also use your browser's privacy or site-data settings to remove cookies and localStorage for ottercedarwhrl.live. Private-browsing modes and storage restrictions may prevent a choice from persisting. The articles and navigation still work if saving is unavailable.
Clearing website storage does not remove downloaded text files, clipboard history or emails you have already sent. Manage those separately in your device and email settings. A copied message is not a cookie, and the site's preference controls cannot erase it from another application.
Requests and external destinations
Your browser still makes ordinary requests for the pages, stylesheet, script and local images. Website hosting may process technical records to deliver and protect the service, as explained in the Privacy notice. Following an external reference or opening your email app involves services with their own storage practices.
